Grounds
Trails
link forested land, surrounding organic pastures, fields,
and gardens. With the consent of neighbours, these trails
could be connected through arched cedar-bough gateways to
other trails on adjacent land. A stone lined fire-pit includes
bench seating for many.
Gardens
(partial list) Domestic. Organic raised beds; herb gardens;
crab apple, plum, lime, magnolia, rowan, and hemlock, trees;
grapes, strawberries, raspberries, teaberries, rhubarb, cultivated
wild berries. Native. Trilliums, salal, miners lettuce, mushrooms,
huckleberries, salmonberries, black raspberries, elderberries,
cedar trees, fir trees, hemlock, maple, alder. Native healing.
Oregon grape, yellow dock, burdock, red and white clover,
cleavers, plantain, turkey tails, foxglove.
Fences surround everything except the panhandle driveway.
Rather than burn the slash left over from selective logging,
the debris was hand stacked into berms surrounding 70% of
the property. This has provided habitat for wildlife, and
new forms of life continuously emerge and develop from this
delightful fence. Arched gateways made from cedar boughs link
neighborhood trail ways. Cedar bough fences have been woven
through various areas, decoratively adding charm and privacy.
Snake-rail fences, created from old growth logs salvaged from
the land, wrap around the entrance to the home. Cedar posts,
with their ends burned to protect them against rot without
the use of chemicals, have been used to fence and cross-fence
pastures and to support berry patches.

Outbuildings.
Chicken coop, large dog house surrounded by a pen, 2 custom
cedar outhouses strategically located for outdoor needs, pump
house/workshop with a storage shed addition, large woodshed
filled with seasoned firewood off the main entrance, small
storage shed on the studio's grounds.
Covenants on this and four adjoining properties protect
the northeast border of the property, preventing the cutting
of trees and any building within a 25-to-75 foot band on either
side of the property line. These covenants link five titles,
resulting in acres of beautiful green space and native habitat.
Trails weaving through the properties interconnect through
cedar-bough arched gateways.
Easements
The 66-foot-wide panhandle entrance - is shared by this and
the adjoining 10-acre parcel. A reciprocal easement agreement,
allows both property owners to widen and share this space.
A hydro easement, located at the top-northwestern corner,
permits the neighbouring property to use existing power poles
on this property, thus ensuring an environmentally sensitive,
low-impact use of the land.
