on the 49th parallel, the town boundaries are from Grouhel Road and just beyond
Gladden Road to the north, extending south to the North Cowichan boundary on the
west side of the Island Highway, to Glen Avenue along Chemainus Road and up to
the power line corridor in the west and east side of Woods Island. The entire
area covers approximately 1,482 hectares. Ladysmith won first place in the
5,000-10,000 population category “Communities in Bloom” contest in 2003. Judges
