French Beach

" We should all exercise our gift to build community. "

Jean Vanier

French Beach is located 20 kilometres west of Sooke on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. French Beach lays within the territory of the T’Sou-ke First Nations.

French Beach was originally settled by James French in the late 1800’s. James was a naturalist at heart and his home and land are now part of the 59 hectare French Beach Provincial Park.

On the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, this 1600 metre long beach is great for beachcombing or to catch a glimpse of the gray whales spring and fall migration. At nearby China Beach is the trailhead for the challenging Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, a 47 kilometre hike to Port Renfrew.

There are no services in French Beach. Sooke is close by for most services that are required.
