Campbell River

" In every community there is work to be done . .  . In every heart there is the power to do it. "

Marianne Williamson

Campbell River may be better known as the Salmon Capital of the World, but it is also the hub of North Vancouver Island. Located on the east coast of Vancouver Island just 30 minutes north of Courtenay, Campbell River is the gateway to Strathcona Provincial Park to the west, Canada`s oldest park and Vancouver Island`s largest park at 500,000 acres, and to the Discovery Islands in the east. Campbell River is the 4th largest community on Vancouver Island, home to 31,500 permanent residents.

Campbell River has a rich heritage of fishing, logging, and mining which is still active today. Over the years the town has diversified to encompass a full range of tourism services including whale watching, eco-tours, kayaking adventures, and of course, sport fishing. There is so much to see and do in Campbell River. It is only limited by your imagination.

Campbell River has a land airport and a seaplane airport. In addition, it has a ferry terminal allowing access to Quadra Island and a small cruise ship terminal. Campbell River is one busy place.

Campbell River is a full service community and it only continues to grow. It has a full range of schools and health care, is eagerly awaiting its new hospital, and there are several churches. With so much to see and do, transportation links, and housing that is still reasonably priced, Campbell River is a mecca for families and retirees alike.
